Manufacturing Team Member-Shipper Loader FULL-TIME

The Shipper Loader/PIT Operator position requires you to possess all skills and perform all duties of the Shipper Loader/PIT Operator position and requires daily transfer of units of corrugated stock that is not on pallets. Our corrugated material is normally not on pallets, so extensive forklift experience in transporting stock directly from the floor without damaging the product is a plus, minimal damage to the corrugated material is an expectation.
The Shipper Loader is responsible to operate lift trucks in a safe and effective manner. As part of your responsibilities, you will learn which line to send product through and possess the knowledge of strapping patterns. You will assure loads are strapped with proper dunnage according to instructions, and any other customer-specific requests.
Lift truck operators are required to load trucks, sweep trailers and floor areas, complete a daily safety check list, and monitor the take off line following strapping processes and load material onto designated trucks (requiring record of load tallies). You will transport product from the take-off line to appropriate areas of the warehouse.
It is also essential to load warehoused product from the warehouse to the loading dock, as well as to receive product from incoming trucks, sign for the receipt, and transport to different departments. Proper paperwork must always be turned in to the shipping office.
Forklift Drivers locate and transport corrugated stock to the converting machines, and perform other service functions to support converting operations.
Truckers report to the converting shift supervisor for the shift to which they are assigned.
Primary Shipper Loader Driver duties/responsibilities include:
-following all safety rules and practices;
– reading factory work orders, converting schedules, and other documents to learn customer requirements;
– locating and conveying stock from in-process storage areas to the converting machines;
– obtaining the machine operator’s direction for orienting/turning stock.
– operating conveyor transfer carts.
– maintaining organized in-process inventories.
– communicating line-ups to other shifts.
– working with shipping associates to obtain stock from sheet and/or finished goods storage areas as needed for converting operations.
conveying nonessential stock to alternate storage areas as needed;
keeping the supervisor informed of any problems and/or unusual situations;
maintaining work areas to plant standards of housekeeping;
– maintaining teamwork with converting machine crews and other associates;
– following prescribed practices in all circumstances; and
– performing other duties as assigned by supervision.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years PIT Operator in a manufacturing facility preferred.
Able and willing to perform and sustain productivity goals (assisting machine crews in meeting production/set up goals by loading/unloading machines/trucks effectively.
Ability to problem solve with minimal assistance.
Provide daily feedback to supervisor regarding all aspects of shift/machine activity. Must be able to communicate effectively with other employees, supervisors, managers, etc.
Be able to interpret and understand machine line-ups.
Must have basic computer skills (data entry, etc.) and be able to perform basic arithmetic including additions, subtractions, multiplications and division.
Comply with all IPs Safety rules and Quality policies and protocols at all times.
Must have ability to understand all operations of corrugated manufacturing.
Must have ability to interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Must have ability to understand and accurately utilize system for setup, run instructions and production times.
Must have ability to mount and dismount a forklift multiple times throughout shift.
Must be dependable and reliable
MUST BE WILLING TO WORK ANY SHIFT
Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be needed during busy periods.
