What We Do

We seek to provide a world-class education for students from educationally underserved communities in Lynn and Boston. Our student demographics mirror those of neighborhood schools in terms of race, socioeconomic status, English Language Learners, and students who receive special education services.

Our promise to families is that their children will enter college and the professional world able to thrive academically due to their literacy, numeracy, and core knowledge in science and social studies. We also promise that our students will develop the zest for learning and grit necessary to persevere as they climb the mountain to and through college and career. Our graduates will be prepared to return to their community as teachers, leaders, and architects of continued growth in Lynn and Boston.

Who We Are

KIPP Massachusetts began enrolling students in 2004. We currently hold two charters, operating two “districts.” Our first district, KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School, is based in Lynn, MA. Our second district, KIPP Academy Boston Charter School, is based in Mattapan, MA. Each district is housed on one or more “campuses,” which we use to refer to different grade spans, for example, elementary grades, middle school grades, or high school grades.

In Lynn, KIPP Academy Lynn Elementary (serving grades K-4), KIPP Academy Lynn Middle (serving grades 5-8), and KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate (serving grades 9-12), are all under our Lynn charter. Admission to any grade in the Lynn district is admission to all remaining grades in the Lynn district K-12. 66% of our students in Lynn are Hispanic, 23% are Black, and 11% are other races/ethnicities.

KIPP Academy Boston(serving grades K-8) operates under our Boston charter. Admission to any grade in the Boston district is admission to all remaining grades in the Boston district, K-8. 68% of our students in Boston are Black, 30% are Hispanic and 2% are other races/ethnicities.

Across both districts, in the school year, 2 KIPP Massachusetts will serve over 2,100 students.

Job Description

Collaboration and Partnership Management

• Collaborates with Teaching and Learning team, School Leadership teams, and Regional Leadership Team to: set regional academic data vision and priorities; analyze student achievement data; create regional testing calendar; identify strengths and areas for improvement; gather and disseminate best practices between schools and from other organizations in the areas of assessment, analysis and decision-making
• Advocates for the use of sound, anti-racist and efficient student data management and data-informed decision making across the region
• Works cross-functionally with internal and external teams
• Works with school and regional leadership to identify key metrics from the Regions Framework and other relevant measures to monitor student, school and regional progress towards academic goals and inform decision making

Reporting and Data Analysis with an Equity Lens

• Leads development and design of dashboards and other achievement reports or analyses (i.e. Board of Trustees presentations, Teaching and Learning presentations, Leadership Team data dashboards) that answer questions for key stakeholders, provide insight on student, school and regional academic performance trends and patterns and progress over time
• Conducts analyses of student achievement data and school information with an anti-racist lens using relevant visualization tools such as Excel, PowerSchool, Tableau, SQL, Experience with Data Warehousing, Excel, EdTech platforms (Illuminate, DeansList)
• Completes data verification and support of external data requests i.e. state & compliance reporting, KIPP Foundation reporting, etc.)
• Oversees data warehouse of all student assessment results

Coaching, Development, and Leading with Influence

• Manages two Data Analysts
• Collaborates with Teaching and Learning Team and School Leaders to conduct professional development sessions around progress and initiatives in data management, analytics, and data-related change management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years demonstrable experience
• Expertise in data visualization, preferably using Excel and Tableau
• Expertise working with large spreadsheets and data warehouses
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a cross-functional space
• Demonstrable project management skills and change management experience
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and graphic)
• Previous work navigating a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with tight deadlines
• Experience in education setting preferred
